"The purpose of art is not to surprise, but to excite, to permeate. The artist must not create artworks for self-satisfaction. The artistic works are not made to astound but to enter into us through the pores.
Communication is a constant in all the arts, regardless of technique and approach. Technique and message, if they are separated, cannot exist alone. As creation Art is not a means, but an end.
When the artist creates, he does not think for moral or social or political or religious purposes; if he did, he would no longer be a free art creator. Indeed, by virtue of its spiritual essence, art is distinguished from everything that belongs to the physical world."

Biography
Eugenio Galli was born in 1951 in Seregno, in the province of Monza and Brianza. He still works there but now lives in the nearby town of Briosco. Ever since he was a teenager, he has harboured a passion for painting.
After studying science at high school in Monza, he spent the next 20 years or so working in his family’s goldsmith’s store and became an expert in gemmology. During this time he would also visit the studio of Gianni Arde. With him, Galli began an intense period of training and collaboration, through which he obtained his own personal
interpretation of colour and scenery.
After leaving his interest in figurative art behind, at the beginning of the 1990s he pondered the issue of light, establishing a creative space highlighted by soft, delicate use of colour. And so his abstract cycles of work began, under the names substance and spirit, universal perceptions and chromatic iridescence. More recently, his
output has embraced a philosophical quest for spiritual universality, under the name “The transcendence of Eugenio Galli”. Included within this new pictorial and sculptural approach are his elegy to white, his multi-material works and his sculptures made from various materials, especially COR-TEN steel.
Eugenio Galli has taken part in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Italy and abroad between Florence, Rome, Milan, Lugano, Lyon, Berlin, Budapest, Sharjah (United Arab Emirates) and Cairo.
His works can be found in private and public collections in Italy and across the globe.
MY DECALOGUE
- Art is an inseparable part of the spiritual universe.
- Artists have the right and the duty to engage in qualitative communication, regardless of the
form and techniques used. - The search for new materials for its own sake is not Art.
- Techniques must be subservient to the “message”.
- A work must show a reasonable degree of durability over time.
- The value of a work is shown by its ability to have an ongoing emotional impact over time.
- The artistic value of a work is not determined by its commercial value.
- A work absolutely cannot and must not be explained.
- A critic’s role is to present artists’ journeys and points of view, stimulate them and bear witness
to their integrity. - The work and the onlooker are the protagonists.

Written words about my art
Some reviews I received by experts and viewers of my artworks
Prof. Hervé A.Cavallera
President of the Scientific Committee of the Turris Award 2011
Eugenio Galli is an innovative artist, expression of certain concerns of the present that mediates in works of clear spiritual intent, full of suggestion. Within a suggestive personal itinerary, his meeting with Salento and one of his most charismatic figures resulted in an artistic result of undoubted interest and the “Premio Turris Magna 2011” delivered to him wants to testify as no territorial area it can be closed to those who know how to attend art and spirituality.
Carlo Moia
Presidente della commissione di gestione del Museo di Storia ed Arte di Sondrio
There is a unique aesthetic fulfillment in Eugenio Galli’s work. A well-represented recapitulation that moves into excellent expressive refinement. A dynamic, tireless and non-stop vision that becomes an obstinately beautiful dream. If beauty can be obstinate. But maybe it is.
And then the painful willingness of the artist to listen to the soul of the universe and compare it with the signs of his soul: not an easy and even painful operation.
Furthermore, the will not to bring to the user an aphasic language. Inept.
No. The user must find responsibly an internal, syntactic path. And another semantic of the characteristics of this sincere artist.
Let’s go back for a moment to what Gyorgy Szabò said of Galli “The pastel or watercolor, used beautifully, determines the good mood”.
So happiness? Of course, if by happiness we also mean the new, the sudden, but not the fortuitous because then we would not be here, yet, incalculably fascinated by this poetry.
Patrizia Ardemagni
Direttore S.A.3 Art Gallery
Eugenio Galli has embarked on an artistic journey which he is pursuing with tenacity and temperament. After several years of study he came to full awareness of his artistic skills which allowed him to express himself independently. The anxiety of seeking the ultimate goal of human action, the need to go deep, the essence of existence are reflected in his pictorial gestures. But it is in dialogue with nature that he finds his source of inspiration: a nature that dominates it but at the same time pervades it with the energy that the universe is the bearer of.
In Galli’s works everything that appears has nothing of the phenomenal. In the chromatic relationship between a dark matter, torn and crossed by the luminous action of a primordial force, we feel the reality of the present vibrate.
The coloristic effects of Galli’s painting produce volumes and spaces that speak to us of primordial environments, but also of unknown universes, bordering on knowledge. In the precious shades we capture the enchantment of the fusion between a superior being and the matter created by him. In Galli’s paintings the relationship between cause and effect is resolved in the poetry of an encounter that becomes euphoria of colors, luminous echoes imbued with incandescent shades. The sign language developed by the painter Galli softens any dissonance and overcomes the lacerations, the wounds which time bears trace. And where the light has not yet reached full splendor we already intuit it pulsing in small nuclei similar to precious stones set in the darkness, scattered in the material from which they seem to emerge to spread the iridescence of their shades, sparks of the hope that does not die. Where matter still thickens we see small sources of a world that will be. Faced with the greatness of the infinite, the artist welcomes the mystery of creation and invites us to let ourselves be invaded by light to give meaning to existence.
